How to Export a GEDCOM File from RootsMagic

RootsMagic is one of the most powerful desktop genealogy programs. Here's how to export your tree as a GEDCOM file.

Export steps

  1. Open your tree in RootsMagic.
  2. Go to File → Export.
  3. Select GEDCOM as the export format.
  4. Choose your options:
    • All people or a specific group
    • Privacy settings — hide living people's details if desired
    • GEDCOM version — 5.5.1 is recommended
  5. Click Export and choose where to save the .ged file.
